Thank you for making those Watchmen figures! I can't believe to this day they aren't harder to buy. I have a few of them in my collection and the display alone is worth owning :)
I'm going back to collecting the MU line again. 😅
The picture with all the Classics Teela`s shows, that the Club Grayskull Teela looks like a Drag Queen. The Talon Fighter Teela isn`t that bad. Okay the lips could be better done, but she is okay, I think.
agree with people echoing the price points being the reason lines are slowly dying- $25 + is INSANE, its INSANE like come on they need to make an effort to bring it back to $15 range. have been collecting since 1999 and watched this hobby go through soooo many turns. ML for $8-$10 while buying MOTUC classics online for $25 was truly the glory days of this hobby. Clearly remember when us collectors wouldn't pay $30 for a chase figure on ebay because it was only a $10 figure and look where things are now. of course economy is totally different but still, $25 being the "normal price" now is total bummer.
I think it looks cool. I'd like an Origins/Cartoon version, honestly. And if they don't like 'er, they can go eat a big fat...beef stick
I'm sure Teela inspired a lot of boys to become men
and why is she so messed up?
The first version of Teela is the definitive version of Teela in action figure form.
I have a list of specific characters I hope to get in the future (Itsy Bitsy, Barbatos, Batman the merciless in red with Bruce wayne head) and like to collect I just see on sale f.e. McFarlane Toys Blackest Night Atrocitus BAF wave or the endless winter wave, only Nekron is damn hard to find now
Love how you used my Teela artwork as the opening scene... ;-) -Jafaristew
Hi me again. Please put out a video regarding your thoughts of the still ongoing MOTU Origins line, and the selling out Turtles of Grayskull line. Thanks.
It was the right idea, but the execution on Teela's head was just not good enough.
Where's the Director's Commentary on Lizardman that was teased at the end of Perfuma?
I recently got ahold of this figure loose for cheap. I think it's fine. The paint apps on the face somehow seem very primitive compared to the first Teela. I mean I don't think face detail is an appropriate area to scale back if you're doing an animated look. Faces are faces. But still I think it's a good figure and she hangs out with the royal family on my shelf.
I was glad that this Teela was included in the set, and with the flight helmet to boot! I put her on the Sky Sled, put Dawg-a-tor at the controls of the Talon Fighter (since he matches the vehicle), and put Sky High in the Wind Raider (also matches the vehicle). Now everyone is in the appropriate vehicle!
I’ll always be amused that Dragstor has unique forearms. Like you could have used the Molarr forearms as seen on several thousand other figures, but no, Dragstor must have all new glove cuffs! I have a soft spot for him because somehow I had two as a kid (so I re-cast him as the troopers) but I imagine he gets left out a lot because he doesn’t really fit the Horde. He’s not an archetypical monster, and he’s not really body horror. I mean he had his guts scooped out in favor of a wheel but he reads as a robot to me.
Forgot all about this and Battle Ground Teela as well. This explains things a bit. I always thought it was odd to include her with the Talon Fighter. Now things make more sense.
More importantly why was it so ugly??😱😱
Nah, gotta disagree (for the first time, believe it or not). The original Classics Teela release was amazing to me. She still looks absolutely stunning. The figures that followed, not so much. Until "Cartoon Collection" Teela ... that's a great figure. Sorry Scott.
Favorite snake-beverage? Venom energy drink?
Here in Australia you can buy as many cobra commander retro as you want when there sold out in states. Hasbro is run by goons
Teela is almost everyone's First Love
Mine was daffny from Scooby Doo lol
Followed by April O’Neil, Arcee, to name a few
Or if youre buying strictly for collect and resale, buy lego and keep them sealed. Even opened i have obly ever seen lego go up in valaue
Super 7 Grayskull box version dropped the ball with the gawd awful eyeliner application.
They lost me when figure prices went past 10 bucks. Now i buy minis and paint them. Yes they are smaller and no articulation but i can paint them and make them who/what i want. And theyre 2 to 6 bucks per individual figure or more if i want monsters and dragons. Or one could just go buy a game like heroquest and get figures and story plus the ability to make more diy quests. 30 to 40 bucks for an expansion, thats maybe almost 2 figures of any mahor line. Personally, i get way for my money with a game like d and d, heroquest or buying the minis.
I imagine Scott´s dream is to cosplay as Padme with the same dress she wore in Episode 2 with a fat, hairy and greasy man cosplaying as Anakin caressing his back while he says the line: "I don´t like sand." ...;)
Good morning everyone
Oh the X-Men 97 stuff were in Target and Walmart, don't worry. But the deluxe Angel and the Deadpool Legacy figures I never saw anywhere at the big retailers.
Thinking of toys as 'investments' is your first mistake. Toy collecting is a hobby. They are things you buy with money made from actual investments (rent, dividends, yields, etc).
I hardly see any marvel legends in my targets and if i do its the same pegwarmers walmart though 0 Marvel legends they got the kiddie stuff but few mcfarlane, black series , 0 motu yeah it sucks here in OC california rightnow
I'm not sure how accurate this is. Here in Canada I've seen the X-Men 97 waves, the Zabu wave, AND the Marvel Knights wave all of them at Walmart, Toys R Us, and Gamestop. Further I've also seen the Void wave at TRU and Ganestop, but maybe not Walmart.
I only stuff i dont have it or if they make it better add new stuff to it
Bro no girls like stars also nobody cares about anything new in star wars ok
Don't forget some of the Obscure s*** they make for Star Wars and Marvel for no reason random figures or random things just like random lines that don't make sense
I only buy characters that I like purchase buy figures that I don't own in the collection trust me if any of y'all have nieces or nephews or kids totally show you that kids don't buy toys anymore they don't even play with toys anymore so don't know why some stuff for being marketed to get to keep going to play with them most people that they'll buy anything from the toy section it's adults it's adults only
I'm sorry but a $100 figure made for adults should not feel or be brittle because we adult collectors pose them like statues. I fully expect an adult collectable to have better, articulation than a mainline figure, details, great materials that are not brittle, amazing paint applications, and to pay a premium for it.
At the end of the day, spend your money as you see fit. If Hasbro sells enough or sells out of a given figure/wave, rest assured, there will be rereleases. Nice work on the video and good luck with the collection.
I’m just not interested in six or 8 inch action figures my jam is always the one 18th figures they don’t take up as much space so until they make something like that they don’t get my money
I feel Mattel is milking MOTU as long as they can but there is quite some fatigue in the community now. Origins started, when, back in 2020? Its 4 years now and we are getting weird repaints and crossovers and high priced exclusives.
Very few AF toylines make it to the shelves of big stores in the U.K. even Forbidden Planet get very few toys. I’ve practically given up looking for toys at retail and attend more toy and comic conventions to get my toy fix.
Here in Australia it's going crazy at the moment. You can pretty much get anything at preorder.
I was waiting for that Cable to be liated for PO but it took so long i forgot about it. By the time i started seeing video reviews of it the listings were all sold out. Certainly doesnt help X-Men 97/MvC Collection probably played a huge part in gathering interest for more Cable.
We were definitely our own worst enemy. A lot of fans saw all of the discounted figures and adopted the mind set of, "From now on I'll just wait until it goes on clearance." They didn't realize a lot of those discounts existed for very specific circumstances. Although I will add, Hasbro doesn't seem to be learning from their mistakes either. Looking at their Star Wars Black Series, they still seem to be putting out a lot of female characters, even though they don't sell as well as male figures.
Hasbro just made Acolyte figures out the wazoo. I ain't touching 1 and I'm black series addict.
Figures based on unpopular movies (e.g. Eternals, Snake Eyes) aren't selling, which screws the manufacturers and retailers, so they make/order less in the future. Manufacturers enjoyed pandemic-era sales figures and raised their prices too high, which screws collectors, who become more selective about purchasing. Make figures more affordable, and/or based on characters/stories that people actually love, and they'll sell a lot better.
Thought I was listening to Dr. Mark Felton for a second there…
Why is it that comic figures still receive less sculpting and paint than movie tie-in toys? All Hasbro did was introduce one blank body (Vulcan) with pinless technology but all of the other figures are the same torsos with pinless arms and legs. Model 20 is the first Iron-Man with butterfly shoulders but they couldn't even be bothered to do some line work to make the colors pop!
I would much rather buy Marvel Legends than the TMNT/MOTU crossover. There's a huge cash grab if I've ever seen one.
Waiting for your video on your thoughts on MOTU's SDCC2024 convention special.
But! Doesn't these short runs and low sales lead to the line being cancelled? I mean at some point Marvel or the toy company has to pull the plug. Right?
Short run huh ? This is nothing new. This has been an ongoing problem for years. The current state of retail is a joke. We have no more big box toy stores. Walmart and Target suck as far as their toy section is concerned. Then you have to reduce productivity. This has been going on for well over a decade. It's sad but true. When all the big box toy stores closed the playing field changed completely. Collecting isn't as fun as it used to be. I'm old school and yes I'll order online if I have to but I much prefer to go shopping in the store. Of course you have to have a damn store to go shopping at and it has to have the damn product in it. I'd say at least 90% of everything I buy these days is online, it's not the avenue I wish to go but it is what I have to do.
Short runs creates panic so everyone goes out there to grab something the day it goes on pre order. These companies do all kinds of stupid crap.
I saw the X-Men 97 at retail (or at least parts of that specific wave you showed b/c I saw Magneto).
